Terms of Use

Last updated October 28, 2026

These Terms of Use are a legal agreement between you and Virgilio Lampano Basilit, known as Vince Basilit ("Nokoto", "we", "us" or "our"), based in British Columbia, Canada. They cover the Nokoto iPhone app, its widgets, Live Activities and Shortcuts, and any related website or support (together, the "Service").

Version française

We wrote these terms in plain language. Please read them in full. Section 4 explains how subscriptions and free trials renew. Sections 14 to 17 limit our liability and explain how disputes work.

Our Privacy Policy, posted at nokoto.app/privacy, explains how we handle your personal information. It forms part of these terms.

1. Agreement to these terms

By downloading, installing or using the Service, or by tapping Continue during onboarding, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

If you're under the age of majority where you live, your parent or guardian must also agree to these terms for you. See section 2.

2. Who can use Nokoto

To use Nokoto, you must:

Where a law requires a parent's consent before a minor downloads or buys an app, Apple's age range and parental consent tools apply. When your age range is 13 to 15 or 16 to 17, Nokoto turns on teen protections, such as locked quiet hours.

Nokoto is offered in the United States and Canada. If you use it from somewhere else, you do so on your own initiative and you're responsible for following local laws.

3. Your account

4. Subscriptions, free trials and billing

Nokoto's main features need a paid subscription. You buy it through the Apple App Store with your Apple Account. Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions also apply to your purchase.

Plans and prices

We offer weekly and annual plans. The App Store shows the price in your local currency, plus any tax, before you confirm. Some plans are not offered to every age range.

Automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period and Apple charges your Apple Account, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Apple charges the renewal in the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price then in effect.

Free trials

The annual plan includes a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid annual subscription and Apple charges you the annual price. One free trial per Apple Account.

How to cancel

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Nokoto. Deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.

Refunds

Apple processes all payments and refunds. To ask for a refund, go toreportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refunds under its own policies. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under consumer protection law.

Price changes

If we raise the price of your plan, we tell you in advance, and Apple asks for your consent where the law or Apple's rules require it. If you don't agree, cancel before the new price takes effect.

Offers

We sometimes run discounts or promotional offers. Each offer's terms appear before you buy.

Founding 100 beta

Up to 100 people get Nokoto free for 60 days through the Founding 100 beta, counted from the day you claim your place in the app. You join with a single-use invitation code. Joining needs no payment details and never starts a subscription, and nothing is charged when the beta ends: your free access simply ends, your data stays on your iPhone, and you choose whether to buy a plan. We might extend the beta for everyone or for you. We might end your place early if you break these terms or ask to leave. Sending feedback is optional.

5. License and acceptable use

Your license

We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use Nokoto on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's Usage Rules allow. We keep all rights we don't expressly give you.

What you agree not to do

6. Your content

"Your Content" means the tasks you say or type, photos and screenshots you add, reflections you write, and the first steps and plans Nokoto creates for you.

7. AI features

Nokoto uses AI from third-party providers, currently Anthropic's Claude, to turn your words into tasks, times and first steps. Speech-to-text comes from Apple.

8. Focus tools, reminders and Screen Time

9. Not medical or professional advice

Nokoto is a productivity tool. It isn't a medical device. It doesn't diagnose or treat ADHD, anxiety, depression or any other condition. Nothing in the Service is medical, mental health, legal, financial or academic advice.

If procrastination is hurting your health, school or work, talk to a doctor, counselor or other professional.

If you're in crisis or in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. In the United States and Canada, call or text 988 to reach a suicide and crisis line any time.

10. Our intellectual property and feedback

We or our licensors own the Service, including the app, code, design, illustrations, icons, text, the Nokoto name and the Nokoto logo. Copyright, trademark and other laws protect them. Your Content isn't included. You get no rights in the Service except the license in section 5. Don't use our name or logo without our written permission.

If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback, you let us use them for any purpose, without payment or credit to you.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on other companies, including Apple (App Store, iOS, Screen Time, speech recognition and notifications), Supabase (hosting), Anthropic (AI) and Sentry (crash reporting). Their own terms apply to your use of their services. We're not responsible for their services, outages or changes. If the Service links to another website, we're not responsible for its content.

12. Apple App Store terms

If you got Nokoto from the Apple App Store, these extra terms apply. If they conflict with the rest of these terms, this section controls.

  1. Parties. These terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  2. License. Your license is limited to using the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions allow.
  3. Support. We alone provide maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no duty to provide any.
  4. Warranty. If the app fails to meet any warranty which applies to it, you're free to notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any, to you. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty duty for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent the law doesn't let us disclaim them.
  5. Product claims. We, not Apple, handle any claims from you or a third party about the app, including product liability claims, claims the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  6. Intellectual property. If a third party claims the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging the claim.
  7. Legal compliance. You confirm you're not in a country under a US government embargo or labeled by the US government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and you're not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. Developer contact. Send questions, complaints or claims about the app to the contact details in section 20.
  9. Third-party terms. You must follow any third-party terms which apply when you use the app, such as your mobile data plan.
  10. Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you.

13. Suspension and termination

Sections 6 (to the extent needed), 9, 10 and 14 to 19 continue after these terms end.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DON'T PROMISE THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, THAT REMINDERS WILL ARRIVE ON TIME, THAT APP BLOCKING WILL WORK, THAT AI OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT YOU WILL REACH ANY GOAL OR RESULT.

Some places, including Quebec and some US states, don't allow these exclusions. If you live in one of them, some of this section doesn't apply to you, and you keep the rights your local consumer law gives you.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AND OUR OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS AND PROVIDERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, MISSED DEADLINES, LOST GRADES OR LOST OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR INABILITY TO USE IT.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ABOUT THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) US$50.

These limits apply to every legal theory, whether contract, tort, negligence or otherwise. They don't limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them might not apply to you.

16. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and compensate us, and our owners, employees and contractors, for claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from:

We tell you about any such claim and let you take part in the defense where reasonable.

17. Governing law and disputes

Talk to us first

Most problems get solved fast by email. Before you start any legal claim, emailsupport@nokoto.app with your name, a description of the problem and what you want. We both agree to try in good faith to resolve it in 30 days.

Governing law

The laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada which apply there govern these terms, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Where disputes are heard

The courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms or the Service. You and we both agree to their jurisdiction. Small claims go to the British Columbia Civil Resolution Tribunal or small claims court where eligible.

Your local consumer rights

If you're a consumer and the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts or to rely on local consumer protection laws, nothing in this section takes away those rights. This includes residents of Quebec and other provinces and US states with similar rules.

Individual claims

To the extent the law allows, you and we each bring claims only in an individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in a class or representative action.

18. Changes to these terms

We update these terms when Nokoto or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes, we tell you in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service and cancel your subscription. Changes don't apply to disputes already underway.
